TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF MEAL PLANNING

My wife mentioned to me that she would like to buy a pressure cooker and I immediately was not too keen on the idea. After all who wants bland steamed food cooked in a device that might be dangerous. The sales pitch was you can cook a frozen chicken in about an hour and twenty minutes or frozen ground beef in about 25 minutes.  And the new pressure cookers are not like the old ones, they have 10 proven built in safety mechanisms and if you follow the simple instructions you will have no safety issues.  After some debate I gave in and not to long after that an Instant Pot showed up in our kitchen. I was preparing myself for a nice bland meal and to prove my point that it’s not all that wonderful. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This thing is amazing. I mean seriously you throw some frozen stuff in it with the proper liquid and spices and it comes out perfect every time.

I’m not going to spend my time talking about the perfect recipe because there are thousands of them all over the internet. You don’t have to settle for bland steamed food. If you have thawed meat to start with you can brown it in advance or if you start with frozen you can brown it after. Anyway, from hard boiled eggs to roasted chicken this thing is amazing. A true game changer because you can cook so many meals in such a short time. It’s endless.

I hate dry pork chops and never been a fan of chicken breast but, they come out moist every time because of the steam. I have never had anything cooked that was remotely close to being dry. You would be amazed at how many things you can cook in less than 20 minutes such as, jasmine rice 3-5 minutes or basmati rice 4-8 minutes.  Veggie’s are crazy fast like broccoli you can set your time to zero minutes and by the time the pressure builds, about 10 minutes, it will be perfectly done as long as you manually release the pressure. Tell me another way you can make Mac and Cheese in 7 minutes?

Having this Instant Pot available in our kitchen has sure taken the pressure off meal planning. We always know we can prepare something delicious to eat in a very short time. If you don’t have one of these, I recommend getting one and giving it a try, I think you will be delighted and it will become a go to in your kitchen. Listed below are a few links to the pressure cooker I am talking about. The Instant Pot seems to be the highest rated and the brand we bought. They offer different sizes so you can pick one that fits your meal size needs. Also click on this link to go to Instant Pot’s web site to find thousands of recipes.
